That makes it the perfect summer drink for house parties to go along with the breakfast/evening snack sandwiches. Recipe for cherry lemonade is as follows

Recipe makes 1ltr

Servings 5

Ingredients:

For Compote:

  • Cherry – 250gm, pitted
  • Water – 1/2cup
  • Wild honey – 1/4cup
  • Lemon juice – 2tbsp

Others:

  • Water – 800ml
  • Ice cubes – as required

For Garnishing:

  • Lemon slices – 10
  • Mint leaves – 25
  • Cherries – 5

Instructions:

  1. In a thick-bottomed sauce pan, boil pitted cherries with water for about 10 minutes, stirring at intervals.
  2. Add honey & lemon juice and cook for about a minute or two. The cherries would have cooked well & mixture thickened by now.
  3. Turn off heat. Cover and let it rest until it cools down completely.
  4. Using a strainer get the pulp out. While pressing hard with a spoon get the most of it. Save the residue aside. I’ll share what to do with it at the end of the blog post.
  5. In a pitcher, add cherry mix and water. Mix well and cherry lemonade is ready to be served.
  6. To serve – add ice cubes in a glass. Add lemon slices & mint leaves. Pour cherry lemonade and top it with fresh cherry.πŸ’

Tips & Tricks:

  • Pitting is the only time-consuming part of the process. In case you do not have a pitting device, use a re-usable straw and push it through the cherry to remove the seed. Saves a lot of time than having to cut and pull out the seed.
  • The compote residue left after straining can be used as spread on bread just like you would use cherry jam/preserve. If needed just grind it in the small blender jar for a smoother texture.
