Jamun shots

Jamun💜 – I’m totally mesmerised by the bold colour of these seasonal fruits! Can’t seem to get enough of it. Fan girl moment here with the pink-purple beauties. Jamun shots are the perfect way to enjoying these sweet & tart balls of joy.

This purple tropical berry has a unique taste, colour and flavour. The most commonly found variety of jamun is often oblong and has a deep purple to bluish colour skin. The pulp of the fruit is grey or pink and has an oblong seed in the centre. You will be stunned by the amazing pink colour of the fruit when pureéd.

The fruit is acidic and astringent in nature, with a sweet taste. Due to its acidic nature, it is usually eaten with a sprinkling of salt. This is a classic combination that works like a charm in all jamun preparations.

Recipe serves 3 shots

Ingredients:

🔸Fresh jamun – 1/4cup, de-seeded
🔸Sugar – 1-1/2tsp (optional)
🔸Everest chaat masala – 1/2tsp
🔸Black salt – 1/8tsp
🔸Salt – 1/8tsp
🔸Lemon juice – 1/2 nos.

🔸Water – 1/4cup

Instructions:

🔸Blend de-seeded jamun, sugar, chaat masala black salt, salt and lemon juice to a fine pureé.

🔸Add 1/4cup water & blend again. Adjust the quantity of water to form a pouring consistency.
🔸Take 3 shot glasses. Rub the rims of glasses with lemon and dip in himalayan pink salt.

🔸Pour into the shot glasses and bottoms up!

It is bound to be a party favourite and you can be happy & content about serving your guests something healthy, pretty & delicious all at the same time. Be prepared for lot of compliments from your guests after you serve these exotic shots!
